CAS Manuelita 1

CAS Objectives:

  •  Planned and initiated activities- In order to complete this objective for CAS La Manuelita, I had to create new activities, by planning them with the group in the end of each day, while also initiating them during our time there.
  • Shown perseverance and commitment in their activities- I really enjoyed being at La Manuelita, which meant that I was very committed to the activity, and my perseverance level was very high. This was very good in order to achieve the objective.
  • Engaged with issues of global importance- During La Manuelita I was able to engage in global issues, as I was helping the elders with everything they needed, and giving them support for the time I was engaged at the activity.
My first visit to La Manuelita as my second CAS activity was very eye-opening for me, as it showed how many things you can learn from elders, as they are a source of experience willing to share with others. I really enjoyed it, as most of them were very happy with our presence there and were ready to be part of any activity we planned for them. The first and only activity of the first day was planned by us CAS students, and Martha Bocanegra, in order to get to know the elders and for them to meet us and learn our names. We understood that some of them had Alzheimer and that they would forget soon but with perseverance and commitment we would greet them and try remind them of who we were, I enjoyed it very much.
